About Us

BAHA was set up in 2009 to grow participation in hockey. Its aim is to introduce young players to high level hockey in their age groups and to inspire them to reach their full potential.

From 2025, BAHA is organised and run by South Leicester Youth Hockey.

Every year, we run a series of training and assessment days where youngsters get the opportunity to be trained by quality coaches. The activities at these camps are open to players from any part of the country.

At the end of the series of training days a squad is selected, for girls and boys, to participate in the annual UK Under-13 Regional Championship. This is a prestigious three-day event in which some of the most talented young players in the country play in teams representing the regions of the country.

As preparation for the tournament, selected players get opportunities to play warm-up matches against some of the other regional teams. In previous years BAHA has played Under-13 teams representing Wales and the North East of England.

From each tournament, players are selected to represent the touring UK Lions squad. BAHA has had players selected for the UK Lions in every year of participation. UK Lions is a touring squad that provides an opportunity for talented players to train together in a high quality environment and to play matches at home and abroad. Tours have included Gibraltar, India, Sardinia, Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Netherlands.

Some of the past BAHA players have gone on to become internationals at multiple age group levels and even senior international.

BAHA is not a club. Its activities are open to players from any club and there is no conflict with any other club, county or player pathway activities.
